  • For many months now, the Department of Labor has been planning for the implementation of a new system of filing and processing Permanent Labor Certification Applications known as the PERM regulation. It is possible that the PERM regulation will be published before the end of this month and go into effect 60 days following publication. Among other things, the new PERM regulation would remove from the individual State Workforce Agencies the responsibility for processing Permanent Labor Certification Applications. However, regardless of whether the PERM regulation is published, the Department of Labor has announced that it is committed to reducing its lengthy processing backlog for Permanent Labor Certification Applications.
