  • Last year California passed an "Employer Bounty Hunter Law," which authorized a whole new class of lawsuits by employees against employers. The law literally created the opportunity for California employees to recover millions of dollars in penalties for violations of the California Labor Code, including minor paperwork violations. Governor Schwarzenegger has now signed legislation that amends the Bounty Hunter Law and eliminates some, but not all, of the worst abuses under the law. This alert explains the new amendments as well as the continuing exposure for employers under the amended Bounty Hunter Law.
