Biography

Megan Dorsey began her career in Construction Defect defense when her USD-SOL roommate decided to go home for the summer and gave up her job to Megan. That summer after her first year of law school she worked as a law clerk/library clerk at the San Diego firm of Kaufman, Lorber, Grady & Farley. Although Kaufman, Lorber, Grady & Farley offered her a job after graduation she chose to broaden her law firm experience. After spending 4 months in Europe while awaiting California bar results, Ms. Dorsey was hired in March 1988 as a new associate with the fledgling firm of Mower & Koeller.

In 2000, Ms. Dorsey opened up the firm's Las Vegas office. This included the pleasure of taking a bar exam 12 years out of law school. From its humble beach head beginning in executive suites in Green Valley to its many tumbleweed stops to its current space in the Bank of America Plaza downtown, the Nevada office has grown under Ms. Dorsey's leadership.

Sensing a need and an opportunity, Ms. Dorsey has become active in pro bono work in Clark County. This opportunity has allowed Ms. Dorsey and her Nevada associates to give back to their community and to individually assist many citizens in need.

The Nevada office of the firm has been recognized as the medium sized Pro Bono Law Firm by the Clark County Bar Association in 2004 and received that same recognition from the State Bar of Nevada in 2005. Additionally, Ms. Dorsey was named 2005 Lawyer of the Year by the Nevada State Bar's Access to Justice Committee and was featured on the cover of the February 2006 Nevada Lawyer.

I have represented many subcontractors' over the past ten years in many of those cases Megan Dorsey was retained by the developer's counsel. I believe that I am in a unique position as counsel for a third-party defendant to observe Ms. dorsey's skill and ethic as a Defendant and a Third-Party Plaintiff. I know that Ms. Doesey is one of the best developer's counsel working in Construction defect. Moreover, unlike some developer's counsel she is widely respected/feard by both bars. Read less
