Robert L. Lakind is a member of Szaferman Lakind’s General and Commercial Litigation Group and Business Group, with a focus on aviation and investment products.
Prior to joining the firm, Rob practiced at two international law firms in New York City and Philadelphia.
Rob is a former airline pilot who flew international and domestic flights. Through his career, he has acquired extensive knowledge and experience regarding compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and issues that arise in aviation operations. Rob has also worked with clients on numerous corporate transactions, and previously worked on a transaction involving the merger of two of the nation’s largest airlines. Rob also works with clients in their dealings with the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Additionally, with Rob’s aviation background, he can also assist both buyers and sellers in disputes that may arise between the parties over commercial aircraft, private aircraft, and other aviation products.
At his prior employer, Rob’s work also included complex litigation over alleged ERISA violations. Further, Rob also assisted clients in preparing filings for the Securities and Exchange Commission. Rob has been quoted in Ignites, a service of the Financial Times, as well as a BNA publication related to retirement plans. At Szaferman Lakind, in addition to aviation work, Rob continues to work in the area of ERISA, on both litigation and compliance matters.
Rob is admitted to the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania Bars. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from American University, Washington College of Law, and a Masters of Law in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He received his B.A. in Economics from The George Washington University.
