On Wednesday morning, a car engaged in a bus collision during the winter storm that resulted in critical injuries for the driver of the car. Around 11:30 am, the bus accident occurred on Interstate 78 in Clinton, New Jersey, when a 23-year-old man from Allentown, Pennsylvania lost control of his car, struck the guardrail, and, upon returning to the highway, was struck by a bus. Originally, the driver of the car was reported to be fatally injured, but he is receiving medical treatment at the Morristown Medical Center for serious injuries. The bus driver sustained personal injuries after the bus collision.
Snowy conditions on busy highways create hazards that may result in serious motor vehicle accidents. When large vehicles like buses strike smaller vehicles, drivers and passengers in both vehicles may be in danger of incurring a spate of injuries as well as potential fatalities. Since buses do not contain air bags or other safety features that are standard in most cars, bus occupants are more vulnerable in a crash.
