On Tuesday afternoon, a school bus crash left nine individuals with personal injuries. Around 5:20 pm, the bus accident took place in Mahwah, New Jersey, when a mini school bus was transporting six students from Bergen Academy. The bus went through a stop sign, collided with two other vehicles, and then hit a tree. Along with the six students who suffered from minor injuries, the school bus driver sustained a head injury, and two other drivers experienced physical trauma. All parties went to an area hospital for treatment.
Since buses do not contain safety features like airbags, when a bus engages in a collision, the occupants could incur serious injuries or be at-risk for fatalities. In some cases, the bus driver may be under the influence or driving in a reckless manner, which endangers the passengers as well as other motorists. Sometimes, if a bus is improperly maintained or contains defective parts, an accident could occur.
