• Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Toms River
  • December 13, 2017
  • A man was fatally struck by a car on Tuesday evening in Toms River, New Jersey. Around 5 pm, the pedestrian accident occurred when the victim stepped out into the road at the intersection of Fischer Boulevard and Fairview Drive near his home, and was hit by a car. Later that evening, the 37-year-old man who was fatally struck succumbed to his fatal injuries at a local hospital.

Within the past month, multiple pedestrian accidents have been reported in Central New Jersey, which is becoming a growing cause for concern by both pedestrians and motorists alike. In nearby Lakewood, New Jersey, officials introduced a new safety program last week, which focuses on the number of serious car crashes in the area. Distracted driving, the amount of traffic congestion in residential areas, or a lack of lighting and designated crosswalks along the roads where pedestrians frequently travel may be some of the contributing factors for these types of incidents.
