This Act establishes the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) Special Fund in the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (DLLR). The Act also repeals statutory licensing fees and instead authorizes MHIC to set fees by regulation. Additionally, the Act redirects the licensing revenue associated with MHIC from the general fund to the new special fund. Penalty revenue and investment earnings continue to accrue to the general fund. Existing statutory fees remain in effect until new fees adopted by regulations of MHIC take effect.Effective July 1, 2018.
