• Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Wreck in Tilden Township
  • August 24, 2017
  • Police are investigating a motorcycle wreck that caused a fatality on Wednesday night in Tilden Township, Pennsylvania on Route 61 near Interstate 78. Around 10:20 pm, a tractor-trailer driver from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania was turning left in his vehicle onto exit 29 of Route 61 to enter Interstate 78 West when a motorcycle collided with the trailer. The 24-year-old motorcyclist from Leesport, Pennsylvania succumbed to his fatal injuries upon impact.

Due to its size and girth, a tractor-trailer takes skills and experience in order to safely maneuver it to its destination. Even when a tractor-trailer driver has advanced training in driving the vehicles, if the driver engages in reckless driving or becomes tired, an accident could occur that may cause personal injuries or fatalities for the driver and any other motorists in its path. When making a sharp turn, the tractor-trailer driver could lose control of the vehicle, which also contributes to truck accidents.
