Although many traffic laws exist to protect bicyclists when they travel, it does not diminish the fact that they are vulnerable in accidents. If a large vehicle like a garbage truck engages in a collision with an individual riding on a bicycle, the results could be catastrophic, and cause the rider to sustain severe injuries as well as potential fatalities. Back, neck, and head injuries commonly occur in bicycle accidents.
