Although pedestrians are afforded the same rights under traffic laws, many motorists fail to use caution around them or are oblivious to their presence. Statistically speaking, Delaware ranks as the highest in the nation for pedestrian fatalities. As rural areas are becoming increasingly populated, this leads to heavier traffic and greater potential for pedestrian and motor vehicle accidents.
