Ms. Krista Vivian Nash: Attorney with Van Horn Family Law, P.C.

Krista Nash brings a wide array of experience to her work as an attorney at Van Horn Family Law.

A Colorado native, Krista earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School, the nation’s premier journalism school, where she wrote for NBC-TV, The Denver Post, and New York Newsday before becoming a Pulitzer-nominated reporter for Knight-Ridder Newspapers. She then worked extensively in marketing and public relations in California’s Silicon Valley, launching a variety of high-tech companies and products before returning to Colorado to run her own PR consultancy with clients such as Apple and Sony.

Later, Krista had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong interest in law, going to school at night to earn a law degree while working. At the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, she graduated near the top of her class and received numerous awards for scholastic excellence and legal writing and research. While in law school, Krista worked at the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, the Colorado Court of Appeals, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and was a law clerk to former U.S. Attorney Michael J. Norton through the Blackstone Fellowship. After law school, she was hired as a law clerk to a federal judge at the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, a position she held until joining VHFL to focus on her passion for families and children.

In the community, Krista is a 2017 graduate of the Leadership Program of the Rockies, serves on its Advisory Council, and is a winner of the Program’s coveted Defender of the Declaration Award. She is an Allied Attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom, serves on the board of directors for Alternatives Pregnancy Center, and has for many years been involved with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a group that utilizes volunteers to engage with children in the dependency and neglect system. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and its Family Law Section, the Christian Legal Society, and the Minoru Yasui Inn of Court.

Krista has been married for more than 20 years to Judd, a physician and Commander in the United States Navy Reserves. Judd and Krista have four teenage children and are active members at their church, Storyline Fellowship, where they teach fourth and fifth graders. Krista has also been extensively involved over the years in Community Bible Study as well as Bible Study Fellowship.
