EXPERIENCE

Ivan Tjoe is a partner in the Firm’s Los Angeles office. He is an experienced litigator who has obtained hundreds of millions of dollars in judgments, verdicts, and settlements for his clients. Mr. Tjoe has acquired a broad expertise in various type of civil litigation. Mr. Tjoe represents international manufacturers, technology companies, logistics companies, financial institutions, insurers, construction sub-contractors, trade associations, screen actors and actresses, as well as professional athletes.

His practice focuses on securing clients maximum results in a time and cost efficient matter. Mr. Tjoe provides advice regarding business practices, prosecuting and defending business practices, business torts specializing in international and complex commercial disputes.

Mr. Tjoe received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1999 and earned his B.A. with honors from the University of California, Berkeley in 1996. He is admitted to practice in all California state courts and the United States District Courts for the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern districts of California. Mr. Tjoe is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Ninth Circuits as well as the Federal Circuit.

Representative Experience:

GIB Services LLC v. International Trade Finance LLC (Sacramento S.Ct. Case No. 31-2010-00080453). Secured summary judgment on behalf of defendant in a $6 million business interference action.
•Represented Indonesian industrial conglomerate against prominent U.S. defense contractor in a commercial dispute. Obtained an eight (8) figure (confidential) settlement on behalf of client on the eve of arbitration before the ICDR.
•Represented regional consulting business against the nation’s largest wireless voice and data provider in a commercial dispute. Obtained an eight (8) figure (confidential)settlement on behalf of client.
Telemasters, Inc. v. The Vintage Club Master Association (U.S.D.C. Cal. Central District Case No. 05-05139). Co-chaired the trial team that was awarded a sub-million dollar jury verdict in a business and intellectual property dispute on behalf of a telecommunications company.
•Represented Foxconn/Hon Hai (the world’s largest sub-manufacturer of commercial electronics) in a in a commercial and trademark dispute. Obtained summary adjudication.
•Co-authored appellate brief affirming trial court’s denial of defendant’s SLAPP-Motion filed in a business dispute. (The Consulting Group, Inc. v. Anderson, 2006 Cal.App. Unpub. Lexis 5011.)
CalAmp, Corp. v. Air IQ U.S., Inc. (Ventura S. Ct. Case No. CIV240112). Secured a T.R.O. and Ex Parte Attachment in the amount of approximately two and one half (2.5) million dollars against a multi-national telecommunications company that led to expeditious and favorable settlement on behalf of client.
