Kathleen Braden is Of Counsel to McCathern’s Los Angeles office. She recently joined McCathern through its merge with Braden, Hinchcliffe & Hawley, LLP. Ms. Braden has tried over thirty jury and bench trials, and her primary areas of practice are currently employment practices law, fair housing claims, personal injury defense, and construction defect litigation. She also has significant experience in the areas of products liability, insurance litigation, mineral extraction claims, subrogation litigation, premises liability, trucking liability, offshore drilling rigs, and various types of professional liability defense.
Ms. Braden obtained her undergraduate degree from California State University, Northridge. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Whittier Law School in California.
During her almost three decades of legal practice, Ms. Braden has had significant experience in representing property owners, developers and subcontractors in construction and contract disputes, including real estate transactions. She has also had considerable experience in preparing and updating employee handbooks, manuals and practices on behalf of employers to avoid future employment litigation.
Ms. Braden is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California. She has also been admitted to the Federal District Court for the Central District of California and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Kathleen is also experienced in appellate work, and has argued before the Appellate Courts of California on several occasions. Prior to joining McCathern, Kathleen was a founding partner of Braden, Hinchcliffe & Hawley, LLP.
Ms. Braden has also actively mediated and arbitrated claims as an alternative dispute resolution professional. She is a Certified Mediator, and has served on the Los Angeles County Superior Court Alternate Dispute Resolution Panel since early 2002. Ms. Braden has mediated more than 200 disputes since 2002. She is also an Arbitrator for the Ventura County Superior Court, and has been involved in arbitration of claims since 1996.
