Laurence currently serves as a Trustee of the Della Martin Foundation which has endowed chairs for psychiatric research at USC, UCLA and UC-Irvine and a fund at Caltech for discoveries in mental illness, and as Treasurer of the John and Beverly Stauffer Foundation. He also chairs the Board of Directors of the California Missions Foundation.
From 1996 to 2002 Laurence served as a Trustee of the California State University system with 23 campuses and 400,000 students. He chaired the Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2002. From 2003-2009 Laurence served as a Commissioner of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges which accredits the senior colleges and universities in California, Hawaii and the Pacific Territories.
Laurence counsels many clients on individual estate planning matters and advises them on minimizing estate, gift and generation-skipping taxes. He also assists clients in establishing charitable entities to minimize taxes. Laurence handles various probate litigation matters, including protecting the interests of adopted children in trusts established by famed book and art collector Henry E. Huntington (58 Cal. App. 3rd 197).
Laurence previously served as Secretary of the Central City Association of Los Angeles, Trustee of the California State Summer School for the Arts, Treasurer of the Los Angeles Music Center Opera League, President of the California Mission Studies Association, Trustee of the Pasadena Museum of History and as a member of the National Advisory Council on Financial Aid to Students.
