  • The U.S. House of Representatives recently announced the beginning of the process to develop and pass a Miscellaneous Tariff Bill ("MTB") in 2008. Under the MTB process, U.S. companies can request that Congress temporarily suspend or reduce duties on imported materials. Such temporary duty suspensions or reductions can be helpful, for example, to U.S. manufacturers that pay duties on imported inputs that are not otherwise manufactured in the United States.
