Google Local Listing Lets You Receive Texts

Google introduces another way for law firms to engage prospective clients. Google recently launched the ability for consumers to send texts directly from a law firm’s Google My Business listing.  This allows prospective clients to initiate text conversations directly from their mobile search results.  More than 60% of searches now take place on mobile devices, which means that a sizable percentage of consumers researching your firm are likely to find you on their phone or tablet.

Law firms can activate this new feature from their Google My Business dashboard.

Step 1: Log into your Google My Business Page and click “Enable messaging now”

Step 2: Verify and confirm that your phone number can receive SMS messages

Step 3: Enter the confirmation code

When it’s turned on, prospects will see a text message icon when they search for your firm on their phones.

Successful firms offer as many contact points as possible for prospective clients — text, live chat, email, form submissions and phone — the goal being to engage consumers in the act of seeking a solution to their legal issue.

Savvy firms also utilize Ngage Live’s text-to-chat, which allows consumers to have a real-time digital conversation directly from their mobile device. Martindale-Ngage monitors text-to-chat conversations 24/7, qualifying prospects and ensuring a swift and thorough response. Consumers value the ability to “speak silently” when reaching out to a law firm when they are in public places —  the hospital, police station, or an office cubicle, for example —  where an audible conversation may be challenging.  Law firms using text-to-chat value the immediate engagement it offers with prospects along with the digital transcript they receive of the communication upon completion.

As always, the end goal for law firms should be to connect with prospects using whatever medium makes them most comfortable and to engage them at the point of contact to convert them to a client.

To further enhance law firms’ Google My Business listings, Martindale-Ngage just released the ability for customers to implement text-to-chat directly from their firm’s GMB listing.
