Jim's clients include the State of Georgia, several U.S. cities and counties, large hospital systems, colleges and universities, school districts and other nonprofit entities throughout the country. He has represented investment banking firms in connection with project financings on both a taxable and tax-exempt basis.
A longtime champion of diversity across the legal field, Jim served as Eversheds Sutherland (US)'s Chief Diversity Officer for more than four years. He also served as the firm's Managing Partner from 1996 to 2005 and has been a personal mentor to many of the firm's diverse attorneys.
Sutherland serves as Duke University Health System's counsel in $300 million bond offering.
Sutherland serves as Spelman College's counsel on bond offering, series 2012.
Seminary engages Sutherland to form Middle East-focused fund of funds.
