Phillip S. Bather represents insurance policyholders in disability bad faith and ERISA short and long-term disability actions. Mr. Bather reviews new client referrals and meets with policyholders to assist and evaluate their potential actions against individual or group insurance carriers. His expertise includes ERISA administrative appeals, representing claimants to reverse their previously denied or terminated benefits.
In addition, Mr. Bather works with Frank Darras on complex individual disability and ERISA litigation matters.
Mr. Bather graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Arizona State University. Throughout college, Mr. Bather worked for KPNX, the NBC affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona, and anchored Arizona State's sports telecast, "Devils on the Deuce."
After college, Mr. Bather attended Southwestern Law School where he served on the Board of Governors for the Trial Advocacy Honors Program. As an advocate in the Trial Advocacy Honors Program, Mr. Bather took home semi-finalist honors in the St. John's National Civil Rights Trial Competition which hosted 24 law schools from across the nation.
Upon graduation, Mr. Bather was selected from his graduating class for the "Excellence in Trial Practice" Award given by the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
Mr. Bather began working for Frank Darras as a law clerk while attending Southwestern Law School. He continued to work for Mr. Darras throughout his law school career, and was hired as an associate attorney for DarrasLaw upon admission to the practice of law in the State of California. He has also been admitted to the Central District Federal Court.
