About this firm

Fenech & Fenech Advocates is one of the oldest law firms in Malta, established in 1891, which has grown to become one of the largest firms on the Island and an established leader in all aspects of shipping, commercial, corporate, tax, transportation, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and asset finance, financial services, iGaming and ICT law.

The firm regularly acts for banks and other financial institutions, particularly in the area of corporate, project and asset finance; although it commonly also assists borrowers in such transactions; and assists in tax driven structuring of corporations both locally and abroad. Fenech & Fenech has also advised on various M&A transactions involving petro-chemical, shipping, aviation and industrial projects amongst others.

It is the only law firm on the Island with a dedicated marine litigation department, with substantial experience in the handling of international maritime matters, and is involved in the majority of shipping casualties taking place in Malta or involving Maltese registered vessels worldwide, and thus acts for numerous large ship owners, tug and salvage operators, ship repairers etc.

A further mainstay is ship registration and ship finance. This department is one of the largest of its kind in Malta, having been involved in the development of the ship registration industry in Malta since its inception.

The firm also boasts of a fully fledged tax department, one of the longest established locally, servicing a predominantly international clientele across the full spectrum of immigration and tax issues. Notably, the firm is one of the only law firms in Malta having expertise in aviation law and aircraft lease and finance and is retained, amongst others, by the national airline. The firm has also entered into the area of ICT law with a thriving practice in data protection and e-commerce. Recently it has also branched out in art and cultural property law as an adjunct to its intellectual property law practice.

Fenech & Fenech Advocates provide effective and value-driven solutions to our international clients. A corporate services company specialising in back office administration, a licensed trust and fiduciary company, a ship registration company, a company that provides alternative dispute resolution with a special emphasis on mediation, as well as a company that specialises in assisting clients to access EU funds are among the firm's subsidiaries. The firm and the above mentioned companies are served by over 70 professional, paralegal and support and back up staff. All services are offered in Maltese, English, Italian, French and German.

Fenech & Fenech's managing partner currently is Dr. Ann Fenech.
