The firm was founded in 1985 by Helen J. Rosenblum who remains the sole practitioner. Since our inception, our firm has been fortunate to enjoy great success and has continued to grow over the years. We have represented a large number of clients in the areas in which we specialize. Our clients come primarily from Suffolk County, Long Island, New York or from New York City with second residences on Long Island. However, a growing part of our practice are clients from other parts of the country and even from overseas who have found the firm on the Internet.
Helen J. Rosenblum was born in New York City and presently resides in Shelter Island, New York. She attended law school at Fordham University School of Law in New York and also Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles, California. She received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1975. Ms. Rosenblum moved back to New York City from Los Angeles in 1977 and worked in the movie industry for several years until she commenced the practice of law in 1984 in Riverhead, New York where she has maintained an office to the present. In addition to her private practice, Ms. Rosenblum served as the Town Attorney for the Town of Shelter Island from 1986 to 2001. She presently serves as the attorney for the Shelter Island Fire District and also as a Town Justice for the Town of Shelter Island.
In addition to her legal activities, Ms. Rosenblum is an EMT-Critical Care with the Shelter Island Red Cross Ambulance and is a member of several committees on the county level relating to emergency services.
Our firm is fortunate in having both an intelligent, energetic and compassionate legal assistant in Danielle Carragher who is involved in all matters concerning the firm, and also a highly experienced and capable paralegal in Nancy Meier who prepares the divorce packets for submission to the Court as well as generously sharing with the firm her vast knowledge gained from many years of experience.
Because the firm is small and consists of a sole practitioner and staff, we have been able to dedicate ourselves to each client on an individual basis. We recognize that our clients frequently come to us with problems that are deeply personal and oftentimes, distressing. Our mission is to resolve each client's problem with a combination of skill and compassion, but always maintaining the highest ethical standards.
To us, the practice of law is a vocation, not merely a business. We are aware that we work for our clients - they do not work for us - and our clients are treated with the dignity, courtesy and respect they deserve.
