Established in 1996, The Wagner Law Group has 35 attorneys engaged exclusively in employee benefits and estate planning law. Eight of our attorneys are AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell as having very high to preeminent legal abilities and ethical standards. The firm is among the largest ERISA boutiques in the country. Our practice is national in scope, with clients in more than 30 states and several foreign countries.

Our clients encompass those with whom we have longstanding relationships - for whom we provide the full range of legal services needed to establish and maintain their benefit and compensation plans and to fulfill their roles as employer, plan sponsor or plan fiduciary - as well as clients who have sought out the firm for individual projects as a result of our recognized expertise. They vary in size from sole proprietors to publicly-traded multi-state and multinational businesses with tens of thousands of employees, and include not only for-profit employers but a full range of nonprofit entities - hospitals, trade and professional associations, educational organizations, medical foundations, unions and government instrumentalities. Our for-profit clients include manufacturers, retailers, technology firms, financial institutions (ranging from investment managers and advisers to broker-dealers to banks) and professional service organizations in the fields of medicine, law, engineering, architecture and accounting.

Our Estate Planning and Administration practice area advises clients regarding preservation and protection of assets during lifetime and transmission of accumulated wealth to desired beneficiaries upon death. We counsel business executives, professionals, retirees and multi-nationals in family and personal planning, asset preservation and protection and tax planning.

The Labor and Employment and Human Resources practice group represents public and private sector clients in matters concerning the employer-employee relationship including counseling, compliance, drafting policies, training, discipline of employees, investigations, drafting agreements and litigation. The firm also counsels clients on best practices, compliance, risk management, employee management and termination.

To all of these clients we bring proven expertise in our specialty fields, the responsive and personal service that are the hallmarks of a smaller law firm, and a dedication to providing our clients with solutions to the problems they face in the constantly changing and complicated areas of the law in which we practice.

Our professionals, 34 attorneys, a senior benefits consultant and 3 paralegals - combine years of experience in our specialty fields of practice with a variety of backgrounds. With previous experience in law firms, insurance companies, consulting firms, financial firms, and as in-house ERISA counsel, our lawyers have both the depth of expertise and variety of perspectives that enable them to handle the complex and sophisticated ERISA; tax and estate planning; and labor and human resources law issues that our clients confront on a daily basis.

Seven of our senior attorneys - Marcia Wagner, Russ Gaudreau, Roberta Casper Watson, Barry Salkin, Dan Brandenburg, Bruce McNeil, and Mark Poerio - are Fellows of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, an invitation-only organization of nationally recognized employee benefits lawyers with 20 or more years of experience.
