About this firm

White & Reed LLP was founded in 1997 by Michael R. White and James S. Reed. They are listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and represent individuals and businesses in all areas of civil trial litigation in state and federal courts, administrative forums, and arbitration.

White & Reed LLP is among the top boutique law firms in Southern California. It is listed in Martindale-Hubbell's national “Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers,” which includes only the highest rated firms in the United States. The firm has also been awarded an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating awarded, due to its record of quality and ethical representation of its clients.

Since the firm's inception, White & Reed LLP has obtained over $100 million in settlements and judgments for their clients in business litigation, wrongful death, personal injury and product liability cases, sexual assault and abuse cases, environmental and toxic tort matters, intellectual property cases, civil rights cases, and labor and employment cases, including wrongful termination and discrimination actions.

Judgments obtained include judgments totaling over $43 million in cases arising from the Hill Williams investment fraud scheme in Orange County, a $20 million judgment against Walter J. Hoyt & Sons, arising from a fraudulent cattle partnership scheme, and a $6.2 million verdict in a wrongful death case against the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts, one of the largest public premises/wrongful death verdicts of that year.

In addition to its work on behalf of plaintiffs, White & Reed LLP has defended numerous corporate and individual clients in business and personal litigation matters involving fraud, injury, partnership, real estate, labor and employment, and environmental disputes.

The two co-founders of White & Reed LLP are Michael R. White and James S. Reed.

Mr. White, an Asian American, is a 1979 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and a 1976 graduate of Yale University.
