Shawn Gibbons is an associate attorney practicing first-party property defense for Cole, Scott & Kissane’s Orlando office. He is originally from St. Petersburg, Florida.
Mr. Gibbons obtained an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from the University of North Florida. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, where he was President of the Trial Team and served as an editor for the Law Review. Mr. Gibbons also competed with the school’s Moot Court team. While in law school, Mr. Gibbons worked for the Eleventh Circuit Public Defender’s Office, gaining valuable courtroom experience as a Certified Legal Intern.
Upon graduation, Mr. Gibbons relocated to Orlando, beginning his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender for the Ninth Judicial Circuit. While working as an Assistant Public Defender, Mr. Gibbons represented hundreds of indigent clients on various criminal charges, ranging from lower-level misdemeanors to drug and violent felony offenses.
