Brian C. Vertz is one of Pittsburgh’s top family lawyers, with decades of hands-on experience in resolving difficult family law cases, high net worth divorces, complex child support disputes, well-crafted prenup agreements, and international divorces. He represents a wide range of clients — including business owners, licensed professionals, pro athletes, and their spouses — in family law settlements, routine and high-conflict divorce litigation, and appeals. Brian is a partner in Pollock Begg Komar Glasser & Vertz LLC, practicing in Western Pennsylvania for more than 25 years. Brian is the co-author of the nation’s leading book on family law taxation, Frumkes & Vertz on Divorce Taxation, which is a reference guide for divorce lawyers everywhere.

Brian C. Vertz was elected in 2003 to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a national organization of family lawyers who are recognized by judges and peers as the nation's premier divorce lawyers with a superior level of knowledge, skill and integrity. Brian is highly active at the state-wide and national levels of the organization, serving as the co-chair of two national committees and an officer of the Pennsylvania Chapter. He completed his training to become a certified matrimonial arbitrator in 2013. He is a lifetime member of the AAML Foundation and serves on the fundraising committee for charitable causes relating to children.

Since the beginning of his career, Brian C. Vertz has been a prolific writer, authoring case studies and continuing education materials for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute since 1992. He is one of the long-running authors and teachers for PBI's annual Family Law Update, which is broadcast statewide at dozens of locations in Pennsylvania. He has lectured twice for the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges. Brian is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Family Law Section Council, which is active in family law legislation and rule-making. Locally, Brian C. Vertz has been active with the Allegheny County Bar Association, Westmoreland County Bar Association, Crafton Public Library, and charitable organizations.

In recognition of his achievements, Brian C. Vertz has been named as one of the Top 50 Lawyers in Pittsburgh by Super Lawyers; one of the Best Lawyers in America; and AV-Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell.

Brian C. Vertz publishes a legal blog - - which explores legal and tax strategies for complex financial divorces. He received his MBA and law degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and majored in English at the University of Michigan.
