Carlo J. Martina's practice focuses solely on family law. In addition to using traditional representative methods in his family law practice, he is also trained and certified in collaborative law. Carlo is a board member of the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan. Carlo is both a mediator and an arbitrator of family law matters. An active member of the State Bar of Michigan's Family Law Section (FLS), Mr. Martina is a past chairperson of its Family Law Council. For over ten years, Carlo was chair or co-chair of the section's Family Support Committee. In that capacity, he served on the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) workgroup responsible for conducting the review and extensive reorganization and revision of the Michigan Child Support Formula Manual. He has served by appointment of the Michigan Supreme Court on the Michigan Child Support Leadership Council. He has appeared in hearings before the Michigan Supreme Court on behalf of the FLS on issues involving child support, evidence and ethics. A member of the Oakland County and Livingston County Bar Associations, Mr. Martina is also a member of the Wayne County Family Law Bar Association (WCFLBA), where he served as strategic planning chairperson and subsequently president. He has chaired the WCFLBA's legislative committee and served as its liaison to the FLS Council. Carlo has served as legal advisor or board member for numerous community groups and was a legal consultant and featured speaker on the community service video ""Latchkey Kids: Home Alone and Safe."" He has been a speaker at numerous State Bar of Michigan FLS and Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) seminars as well as community organizations on issues including Child Custody and Parenting Time, Remedies for Dissapation of Marital Assets, Changes in Evidence and Rules of Professional Conduct, Discovery, Acquisition of Personal Protection Orders, Child Support and Change of Domicile, among others. He's the reciepant of a lifetime achievement award, presented by the Wayne County Council Against Family Violence. Former co publisher of the monthly publication ""Metro Parent Magazine,"" Carlo also authored the opening chapter of ICLE's ""Michigan Family Law"" as well as articles on discovery, domestic violence, evidence, child support, and ex parte orders for the ""Michigan Family Law Journal."" Carlo was a Den Leader and Cub Master for his son's scout troop, a soccer coach and before all that, an Intelligence Operations Specialist for the 191st Fighter Interceptor Group.
