    Prior to joining Verrill Dana, Chris served on active duty as a surface line officer in the U.S. Navy in a career spanning more than two decades. As commanding officer of a Bath-built AEGIS destroyer, Chris led his 300-person crew during a large-scale disaster relief operation following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

    Chris also served in a diverse range of influential positions throughout his military career including as a Special Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon and as a research assistant at the U.S. Naval War College. A seasoned traveler, Chris has visited more than forty-five countries on five continents and has frequented many global centers of trade and international commerce. In addition to living abroad for eighteen months, Chris has developed a global perspective through frequent participation in diplomatic and multilateral military negotiations abroad.

    Chris received his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law, where he authored the “prize brief” in a class-wide appellate competition and competed at the national level in an Admiralty Law Moot Court competition. Prior to law school, Chris received his Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University with an emphasis in strategic management and organization behavior.

Biography

Chris provides trusted legal advice and counsel on a wide-range of corporate matters. His practice principally centers on the formation and operation of business entities. In collaboration with the firm’s senior business counsel, Chris routinely drafts complex transactional instruments and commercial agreements tailored to individual client needs.

A native of Greater Portland, Chris lives aboard a private boat in Portland Harbor during the summer months and maintains a permanent residence in the mid-coast region of Maine. He enjoys his time away from the office in year-round outdoor pursuits including hiking, kayaking, and skiing in Maine.
