Biography

Advising entrepreneurs and businesses in all stages of growth

Simeon Vance represents entrepreneurs and businesses in all stages, from entity formation to funding to acquisitions to exit transactions. His legal career has included roles as a corporate and technology attorney with prominent law firms in Nevada, Hawaii, and Utah, as chief in-house counsel to an innovation-based company with ventures spanning data analytics, life sciences, and energy technology, and as an adjunct faculty teaching entrepreneurship to business, law, and engineering students.

BusinessQ Magazine named Simeon a Top 40 Under 40 in Utah Valley in 2016. Simeon is devoted to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation and has written and lectured on business and legal topics. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board's Technology Committee.

The intersection of business, technology, and law

Simeon focuses his practice on business and technology law, with particular attention to drafting, reviewing, negotiating or disputing contracts, forming new businesses (LLC, corporation, partnership, joint venture) – especially those with high growth vision, buying or selling companies (mergers & acquisitions), raising money (crowdfunding, bridge loans, angel or venture capital investment), negotiating and settling disputes between co-founders or business partners, private stock transactions (such as issuing or transferring stock), equity compensation plans (such as stock options or performance awards), protecting intellectual property, software and IP licensing, technology transactions, and Internet law.

Simeon holds a Master of Laws in Entrepreneurship from Duke University, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Hawaii, and graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University—Hawaii with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems. Prior to law school, Simeon was a "coder" immersed in software development, first with a NASDAQ-listed telecom company and later an e-infrastructure startup funded by Bain Capital.

More than just legal counsel

Simeon's diverse professional experience provides him a deep understanding of the complex issues facing entrepreneurs, executives, and their businesses, and the proven ability to add value with business-minded legal solutions.
