On June 1, a 12-day sales tax holiday on certain hurricane supplies and equipment will begin. Among items exempted by the bill are flashlights and other portable, self-powered light sources costing $20 or less, portable, two-way radios, and weather-band radios costing $75 or less, and tarps costing $50 or less.
Also exempt are gas or diesel fuel containers costing $25 or less as well as batteries and non-electrical food storage coolers costing $30 or less. In addition, the bill exempted portable generators costing $1,000 or less, carbon monoxide detectors costing $75 or less, and storm shutter devices costing $200 or less.
