Andrew is an associate in the firm’s Richmond office. Since joining the firm, Andrew has represented businesses and individuals in state and federal court on a variety of litigation matters. Andrew’s experience includes defending architects, engineers and lawyers from professional liability claims, protecting and asserting the interests of banks and businesses, workers’ compensation defense, and appellate matters.

Andrew is active in the firm’s pro bono efforts, and his work has included representing a veteran who was denied benefits before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Andrew is also active in the Virginia State Bar’s Young Lawyers Conference, where he serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Docket Call newsletter.

Prior to joining Vandeventer Black, Andrew served as a law clerk to Judge Julie E. Carnes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. While pursuing his J.D. and the University of Virginia School of Law, Andrew worked for the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection and volunteered for the Albemarle County Attorney’s Office. He was also a member of the Virginia Law Review.

Andrew honed his appellate advocacy skills in law school by representing clients through UVA’s Appellate Litigation Clinic as a third-year student, where he conducted oral argument before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and co-authored and edited several briefs submitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He was also heavily involved in the school’s extramural moot court teams, including representing the school at the international rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

Prior to law school, Andrew worked as a content editor for a global information services company. He earned his B.A. from Brigham Young University, where he majored in political science and Korean.
