A quick handshake

What do you most enjoy about your work?

In White Collar Criminal Defense cases, the trial lawyer must understand the industry or business from which the case arises, which means the educational experience keeps you interested and on your toes. I especially enjoy the battle of advancing the client’s position - be it in negotiations, a hearing, or a jury trial.

What keeps you occupied outside work?

I have been active in scuba diving shipwrecks, belonging to a dive rescue/recovery team, traveling, and surf fishing. More recently I have spent my free time sponsoring, supporting, volunteering and attending my children’s fine arts and athletic activities.

How do you relax?

Reading. I attempt to sample different authors, but for the past couple years it has largely been Cormac McCarthy, Ken Follett, James Lee Burke, Walter Mosley, and Michael Connelly.

What is your favorite sport?

I played high school football and basketball in far Southwestern Virginia, but my current favorite spectator sport is lacrosse. I saw my first game in my late 40s when my two sons began playing.
