Mr. Machlis concentrates his practice on natural resources and environmental transactions, administrative appeals, and litigation. He has experience counseling clients on issues related to public lands, environmental permitting and compliance, water rights, endangered species, and energy development including oil and gas title examination. Prior to private practice, Mr. Machlis was a Policy Advisor to the Utah Governor's Office of Public Land Policy Coordination, where he helped direct Utah's involvement in public lands litigation and coordinate state agencies' interaction with the Bureau of Land Management, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Mr. Machlis is a graduate of the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah where he was the managing editor of the Journal of Land, Resources and Environmental Law and received the Wallace Stegner Center Certificate in Natural Resources and Environmental Law.
