Zaven Sargsian devotes his practice to commercial litigation, privacy and data security, and appeals. Zaven represents public and private companies in complex litigation matters at both the trial and appellate levels in federal and state courts, with an emphasis on corporate business litigation, land use and development disputes, construction matters, and creditor and bankruptcy matters.

He also advises in the area of privacy and cybersecurity and is a member of the firm’s Cybersecurity, Data Protection and Privacy practice group. He advises clients on all aspects of information risk management programs, vendor assessment and management, privacy and information security disclosures, cyber incident response planning, employee training and community awareness, privacy laws and practices, and information governance. In addition, he advises on cyber-related governmental investigations, regulatory compliance and enforcement matters, including Utah’s Information Technology Act and Protection of Personal Information Act, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), FTC privacy rules and compliance, CFPB enforcement actions, Gramm-Leach Bliley Act, HIPAA, COPPA, DPPA, FCRA, and cyber liability insurance. He is also the Vice Chair of the Cyberlaw Section of the Utah State Bar, and annually assists in organizing the iSymposium, which brings cybersecurity specialists together for a day-long event.

Zaven is also a member of the First Amendment practice group. He has represented clients on First Amendment matters, including defamation defense, Communications Decency Act issues, anti-SLAPP motions and copyright matters.
