Experience

Francesca Macchiaverna is a partner in the Savannah office of HunterMaclean. She has over nineteen years of experience in business and commercial litigation in state and federal courts of Georgia and South Carolina. She represents clients in landlord-tenant matters, business law, real estate foreclosure and workouts, mechanic’s liens and bonds, health care, post-judgment and foreign judgment collections, bankruptcy, and creditors’ rights. Additionally, she is a certified Circuit Court Mediator in the state of South Carolina. Francesca has received the highest possible rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell in the areas of commercial law, bankruptcy, and litigation.

Francesca is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Georgia and South Carolina as well as the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a member of the Bankruptcy and Creditor’s Rights Sections of the State Bar of Georgia, the Savannah Bar Association, and the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. She is also a member of the South Carolina Bar, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, and the South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association. She is a frequent presenter at professional education programs on landlord-tenant topics, and currently authors the Greater Savannah Apartment Association legal newsletter.

Prior to joining HunterMaclean, Francesca was managing partner of Thomerson Macchiaverna Smith & Freeman P.C.’s Savannah office. She received her B.A. from Emory University and her J.D. from the University of South Carolina, where she was on the editorial board and was articles editor for the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal.

Her current community activities include serving on the board of trustees of the Coastal Heritage Society and participating as a presenter for the Coastal Bankruptcy Law Institute. She is married with two daughters.
