Kate Lawson Smith is an associate in HunterMaclean’s litigation group who focuses her practice on civil litigation. Kate has represented a wide variety of clients in matters involving contracts, premises liability, health care, toxic torts, insurance coverage, real estate, and trucking accidents.
Kate is licensed to practice in both Georgia and South Carolina and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Georgia, the Middle District of Georgia, the Northern District of Georgia, and the District of South Carolina. She is also admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Kate earned her J.D., magna cum laude, in May 2012 from the University of Georgia School of Law, where she served as managing board member, editorial board member, and notes editor for the Georgia Law Review. After graduating from Georgia Law, she was inducted into the Order of the Coif. Prior to law school, Kate earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina.
