  • The Securities and Exchange Commission announced on October 4, 2005 that it would provide regulatory relief to insurance and reinsurance companies with respect to certain Securities Act filings. These actions are designed to facilitate fund-raising that may be necessary to provide capital and liquidity to pay insurance claims filed by victims of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.
