Donald Edward Kelly, Esq.

Donald Edward Kelly, Esq.: Attorney with Tully Rinckey, PLLC

Biography

Prior to joining Tully Rinckey in August 2012, Don operated his own legal practice for over 10 years and has been practicing law in the Syracuse community for over 20 years in total. He has the experience and knowledge to give clients an edge in the courtroom with skills he has honed in the 50-plus felony trials where he has acted as lead counsel. Don understands that the successful defense of a case often begins with an aggressive offense in pursuit of closing a case before it begins.

When Don commences representation on the matter, he understands that the first step is a thorough evaluation of the elements that need to be proved to develop a strategy to disprove one or more of those elements. Once again, an early victory is often the most satisfying to the client, as they may avoid the unavoidable stress of litigation or of a criminal prosecution. Don has acted as lead counsel in several high profile criminal trials, so he is quite accustomed to the demands and pressures faced when all the resources of the government are being marshalled against our clients.

Don started his own law practice on January 1, 2002 after serving as an attorney for the Onondaga County Department of Social Services for nearly four years. Seeing an opportunity to join one of the fastest growing law firms in America, Don left private practice and joined Tully Rinckey in 2012.

While success is not always guaranteed, Don strives to ensure that all Tully Rinckey clients are provided with excellent representation to achieve the best possible result before any court or agency.

Don is an honors graduate from the Syracuse University College of Law and received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York College at Oswego. Don is also an arbitrator for the New York State Attorney/Client Fee Dispute Resolution Program.

It has been my pleasure to be represented by Mr. Kelly for over a decade. From the closing on my first home to traffic and business matters he has provided excellent advice and representation. Some of the best advice I received as a young man was,"Find a good lawyer, accountant, and insurance agent, and stick with them". I know for a fact I have found that lawyer. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Kelly to friends, family or colleagues. Read less
