Jennifer Murphy founded The Murphy Law Firm on January 1, 2019, after practicing for over eighteen years with well-respected firms in the Tampa Bay area. During her extensive legal career, she also served as an Assistant Professor of Legal Skills and Legal Writing at Stetson University College of Law and coached Stetson's tax moot court team in 2005 and 2006 in back-to-back national championship victories in the Florida Bar National Tax Moot Court competition .
The Murphy Law Firm represents businesses and their owners in all aspects of business, including entity formation, organization and structuring, corporate governance, succession planning, and mergers and acquisitions. After an extensive career as in-house counsel for a publicly traded company, Patricia L. Newman joined the firm as counsel to contribute her extensive regulatory and general counsel knowledge to the Firm's business clients.
Since 2004, Jennifer has authored the chapter, Tax Consequences of Divorce, which is published in two Florida Bar publications: Drafting Marriage Contracts in Florida and Florida Dissolution of Marriage. In addition to preparing and negotiating prenuptial agreements, she is often engaged to assist divorce counsel in structuring marital settlement agreements when there are complex business holdings and tax issues involved.
