Biography

A Florida native and Director in the Tampa office, Maggie Potter practices in the areas of insurance defense, property insurance, general negligence and premises liability defense, and insurance coverage. She handles first and third party claims and coverage matters throughout the State of Florida. Maggie has extensive experience in insurance and coverage matters as while in law school, and prior to her admittance to the Florida Bar, Maggie was a licensed independent insurance adjuster and claims manager. During her years as an insurance adjuster, she primarily concentrated on first party property claim investigations and coverage analysis in addition to oversight and management of claims and insurance carrier accounts. Maggie has handled claims at all stages, from first notice of loss through trial. Because of her insurance knowledge from the carrier’s perspective, Maggie knows client communication and timely, thorough investigations are key to cost-effective management of claims. Maggie focuses her litigation practice on producing effective results in an efficient manner for her clients from early resolution to trial.

Maggie graduated cum laude from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations. While at the University of South Florida, Maggie earned Dean’s List honors and Conference-USA Academic honors while on the NCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country and Track team. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law.

Maggie is licensed to practice in the state of Florida. Prior to joining the Tampa office of Galloway Johnson, she began her practice focusing solely on insurance defense litigation with an emphasis on first party property and coverage matters. She is a licensed instructor with the state of Florida and presents at numerous seminars on a variety of topics ranging from first and third party bad faith, insurance coverage, negotiations and ethics.
