V. Jonas Urba has practiced law since 1988. Eight years of his early career were devoted to defending a 2,000 employee state agency, a professional employer organization, and private employers / insurers in labor and employment matters before the EEOC, the DOL, a public employees' commission, the Division of Human Rights, hundreds of administrative hearings, and in state and federal district courts.
For seven years Jonas represented Florida's most discriminated class of residents. Pursuant to invitation he was a panel member speaker at a CLE workshop at the University of Miami School of Law in 2007.
Jonas has represented primarily employees in labor and employment law matters for a combined total of 10 years in Colorado and now New York. His background includes recovering money on behalf of 51 clients who were underpaid overtime as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act. That case was vigorously defended by several teams of nationally recognized defense litigators. Discovery was extensive. Greater than 51 depositions were taken (back to back). Each client was served with custom tailored interrogatories, RFAs and RFPs. Jonas personally prepared and represented the overwhelming majority
