Mr. Regan has successfully represented high-profile public figures, elected and union officials and major corporations for more than twenty-five years both in defense of criminal investigations and in civil litigation. Following a general equity clerkship with the Honorable Reginald Stanton in 1983-84, Mr. Regan joined a small Newark firm specializing in white collar criminal defense and representation of attorneys in disciplinary investigations. He teamed with one of New Jersey's most preeminent trial lawyers in handling major fraud, criminal and civil RICO and wiretap cases in state and Federal courts in Florida, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. Mr. Regan has argued cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the New Jersey Supreme Court and has served as a Master in the Hudson and Seton Hall University Law School Inns of Court. For the past ten years, he has been a Trustee of the New Jersey Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has lectured on topics of the United States Sentencing Guidelines and vehicular homicide cases.
Mr. Regan has also served as special counsel to the Office of the City Clerk of the City of Newark in election law and to other municipal and state governmental entities in defense of employment, wrongful termination and civil rights suits. In 1998, Mr. Regan was a member of the winning trial team in then New Jersey's largest environmental insurance coverage case and in 2008 participated in New Jersey's largest and longest civil corporate-bank fraud case tried in Bergen County.
