  • As a result of a process started in early 2010 by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (“PaPUC”), Pennsylvania is moving closer to formal rules governing the sales and marketing of electricity and natural gas by competitive energy suppliers and their agents. The rules are set forth in proposed regulations, applicable to sales to residential customers, which still need to be approved by the Pennsylvania Independent Regulatory Review Commission (“IRRC”) before they will become effective. The current deadline for IRRC action is May 11, 2013. Once final, these new rules will replace the currently effective Interim Guidelines.
