Wage and Hour Law

The federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as well as state laws set baseline standards that employers must follow regarding minimum wages, overtime wages, when an employee must be paid an hourly wage (known as a "non-exempt employee") and when an employee may be paid an annual salary (known as an "exempt employee"). Wage and hour law attorneys and employment lawyers can advise and consult with workers who have been denied overtime, are being paid less than the minimum wage, are required to work unpaid hours or have been misclassified as exempt. Employment law firms can also provide legal advice to businesses that want to ensure they are in compliance with the FSLA as well as those that have been accused of wage and hour violations.
