Jeffrey Nelson represents state, tribal and local governments in a wide variety of matters, primarily related to consumer protection and deceptive marketing.

Jeff represents multiple state and local governments in litigation against drug manufacturers and distributors, alleging deceptive acts and oversupply of addictive opioid painkillers. He also has represented the State of Hawaii and the U.S. Virgin Islands in their respective litigations against the Takata Corporation for producing dangerous and defective airbags. Prior to joining Motley Rice, Jeff represented the State of Mississippi in an action against the three major U.S. credit reporting agencies for violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Jeff’s knowledge of the challenges faced by public clients is strengthened by his experience practicing in the public sector and representing tribal governments. In addition to prior work representing Indian tribes, he served as an Assistant Solicitor in the U.S. Department of the Interior, Division of Indian Affairs, and as a Senior Attorney for the National Indian Gaming Commission.
