Biography

Krista Reale Samis is an experienced litigator who focuses her practice on mass tort, product liability, professional liability, medical device, and construction matters. Krista defends Fortune 500 companies in litigation in state and federal courts and has successfully argued multiple summary judgment motions. She has a record of obtaining favorable results for clients by working with them closely to understand their objectives, allowing her to provide counsel that considers the effects of the clients’ defense strategy on the pending litigation, potential future litigation, public opinion and other client-specific concerns.

Krista has experience in the litigation of matters involving asbestos at both the trial and appellate level. Krista successfully argued to an en banc panel of the Supreme Court of Delaware which resulted in the elimination of a burgeoning theory of liability under Delaware law. Riedel v. ICI Americas Inc., 968 A.2d 17 (Del. 2009); In re Asbestos Litigation (Riedel), 2007 WL 4571196 *1 (Del. Super. Ct. December 21, 2007).

Krista also represents insurance agents in professional liability matters. Krista served on the trial team that defended a hospital in multiple medical malpractice cases. Krista was a member of the trial team defending a medical device manufacturer in the first pelvic mesh case to go to trial in Delaware. Krista’s practice also includes defending clients in construction accident litigation.

Krista is licensed to practice law in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New York.

•Krista Serves on the Development Committee of Delaware Hospice. Krista has represented victims of domestic violence in Family Court matters as a volunteer attorney for Delaware Volunteer Legal Service. Krista has also volunteered for the Delaware Humane Associate as an Ambassador.
