Biography

Rebecca Knudson, formerly known as Rebecca Scherrer, brings over 10 years of experience in civil litigation. She has represented business and individuals in state and federal courts, including the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Rebecca focuses her practice on construction law, business law, appellate law, and community association law.

Rebecca’s experience includes representation of corporate officers, developers, and general contractors, in several complex construction defect and commercial cases. Rebecca also provides counsel to clients on every aspect of their business including, business formation, contract negotiation, advertising, products liability, and employment law.

Prior to joining Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog LLP, Rebecca practiced at a firm in Wilmington where her practice focused on construction law, civil litigation, and business law. Rebecca previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable J. Douglas McCullough, the Honorable Richard A. Elmore, and the Honorable Robert N. Hunter, Jr. at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

Rebecca was recognized by Business North Carolina magazine as part of the magazine’s Legal Elite Program in the fields of Appellate Law and Construction Law in 2019. She was also selected by North Carolina Super Lawyers as a Super Lawyer in the field of Construction Litigation in 2017 and 2018 and was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America from 2016 - 2018. Rebecca was selected by North Carolina Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Construction Litigation from 2014 - 2016.

Rebecca is admitted to practice in North Carolina and Massachusetts. She currently serves on the Council of the Construction Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
