Biography

Rory J. Lang is an international corporate lawyer and Senior Associate at Duane Morris & Selvam LLP’s Myanmar office in Yangon and Singapore. He practices in all areas of dispute resolution, banking and finance, capital markets, corporate, cross border transactions, commercial, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, employment and energy and resources law. He has significant experience in all forms of foreign direct investments and cross border transactions. Rory provides on-going legal assistance in relation to corporate structuring for investment; commercial contracts with local and international corporations and individuals; labour law; local regional compliance requirements; and real estate guidance for developers and hospitality providers.

This included appearances in over 50 different mediation sessions as held by the National Native Title Tribunal.; Advising a Singapore company on a thermal power project with the Ministry of Electric Power in Myanmar.; Advising a bidder in negotiations with the Ministry of Electric Power and the IFC for a landmark gas fired IPP power project in Myanmar.; Advised foreign investor on cross border acquisition of two Solar Power Plants and project company in Myanmar worth in excess of $500 million USD.; Advising the developer and investor in their plans to build and operate six solar power plants in Myanmar with a combined power generation output of 420MW.; Advised leading foreign logistics company for its multi-million dollar development and construction of its warehouse in Myanmar.; Advised Chinese SOE on the incorporation of a foreign owned power company in Myanmar with the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration ( DICA ).; Advised foreign petroleum company in joint venture negotiations concerning expansion of terminal storage facilities in Myanmar.; Advised as local counsel in support of a technical services initiative sponsored by the United States Trade and Development Agency to provide the MOEP personnel with information regarding standards, practices, and management systems of the U.S. and other international countries for successful implementation of IPP projects.
