  • lf you are a landowner/developer frustrated with owning land ready for development, and patiently waiting for the market to turn...pay attention! Recently adopted statutes can help you, but only if you take action before December 31, 2011, or in some circumstances by November 12th. With minimal work a land owner can extend the expiration dates.

The 2011 Legislature provided the opportunity to extend most DRI Development Orders for four years and to extend by two years local development orders and certain permits issued by DEP and the various water management districts. These extensions must be claimed by December 31, 2011. The legislature also provided an opportunity to obtain an additional time extension for development orders and permits based on a Governor-declared state of emergency. An additional eight-month extension is available if the extension is claimed by November 12, 2011 as the result of a statewide wildfire emergency declaration issued by Governor Scott in June.

Time is short, so act now.
