Benjamin R. Grau (Ben) knows that solving his client’s problems requires more than just aspiration, which is why he tackles their problems head-on with the same level of dedication, intellect, and creativity that they rely on in their own operations. He maintains a diverse litigation and insurance coverage practice, with extensive experience in the State and Federal Courts of Louisiana, Texas, and across the country in complex matters primarily in the areas of general commercial litigation, construction law and defect litigation, insurance coverage, business interruption, premises and product liability, onshore and offshore oil and gas casualty/blowout litigation, and admiralty/maritime litigation. Whether a claim involves litigating a simple slip and fall, a $30 million dollar food-borne illness business interruption claim, or a multi-million construction defect/product liability class action, Ben has the knowledge, skill, and experience necessary to develop and implement a tailored plan with an end-game approach to resolve the claim efficiently, effectively, and for the right result.

Originally from New Orleans, Ben attended Jesuit High School and Tulane University, before beginning his legal career. He practiced primarily in the areas of construction, maritime, casualty, and commercial law for seven years before the winds and waters of Hurricane Katrina changed his path. After suffering the same fate as many New Orleanians, in January 2006, Ben and his family relocated to Dallas, Texas, where he was able to continue his professional development and expand his practice to include insurance coverage, business interruption, and premises and product liability law on a local, regional, and national scale. However, in January 2011, the call of home and the allure of the majestic practice of law in New Orleans led Ben to return to the city he has always called “home.”

He has earned an “AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubbell based on evaluations by his peers in Louisiana, Texas, and across the country. One such peer said of him, “Mr. Grau is a very bright, aggressive, and thoughtful attorney. He is clever and creative in determining how to proceed with a case. He is equally as creative in finding ways to resolve a dispute in an economical and efficient manner. Mr. Grau is an excellent attorney of the top grade.”

He is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, and Federal Bar Association, where he served as a past board member for the New Orleans chapter. He has been married to his wife, Camella, for twelve wonderful years and has two fantastic children, Benjamin and Jillian.
