Bruce R. Bancroft is in the South Bend, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP and now serves of counsel (retired). He practices primarily in the areas of real estate, corporate, and healthcare and has extensive experience in counseling clients and drafting documents. As part of his practice, he has formed real estate entities of every type, has drafted complex real estate documents involving residential and commercial projects, and has handled numerous rezoning and zoning variance matters. He is experienced in real estate financing, sale and acquisition of real estate, and foreclosure of mortgages.
Mr. Bancroft's healthcare practice involves advising hospitals and physicians, the drafting of contracts, and the counseling of clients concerning healthcare issues.
Mr. Bancroft has lectured widely to many types of groups and has been chairman at Indiana Continuing Legal Education Foundation seminars and real estate presentations. He has written articles concerning real estate law. He is admitted to practice in the states of Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. He is a member of the Indiana and Michigan Bar Associations, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and the National Health Lawyers Association. He is a past president of the board of directors of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra Association, is a member of the board of directors of the St. Joseph County Chamber of Commerce and is past president of the board of trustees of Memorial Hospital. He actively participates in a number of other civic, professional, and charitable organizations in South Bend.
Mr. Bancroft received a B.A. from Michigan State University in 1962 and was awarded a J.D. by the University of Michigan Law School in 1965. He joined Barnes & Thornburg in 1965 and became a partner in 1970.
